he's taken on a whole town in california. good for him. he would are actually looking at some pretty nice weather out that way. that won't be an issue. we're going to see a good amount of sunshine across the majority of the country. we have showers through the great lakes moving through minnesota, chicago, a little bit of light rain, off and on showers. we have a line of heavier storms in southern missouri right now. not so much severe weather but frequent cloud to ground lightening across southern missouri moving into northern arkansas. it is just out ahead of this cold front. that's really the only feature across most of the country right now. otherwise it's sandwiched on both sides by high pressure and things are looking fairly quiet. the rain continues down near miami and we will see some heavier thunderstorms throughout the day. off and on heavy rain across portions of southern florida and we could end up with an inch or two of rainfall out ahead of some of those storms. that's been the likely forecast for the past couple of days with

by california standards it did get everyone's attention. the other thing we have to worry about as we go through the next 48 hours is what's going to happen down in the caribbean. we are watching tropical storm sandy. this one is heading north wards. jamaica, cuba, then the central bahamas. this storm tracks not all that far away from florida. we're not expecting a direct impact. with the uncertainty coming this close to florida, we should see rip current, large waves on the east coast beaches. then the storm is off to the east coast sometime sunday into monday. where is the storm heading after that? a lot of questions. this high pressure is going to block it. it's not going to easily head out to sea. it's a race between the cool air and cold air. this could get sucked up to the north. we haven't ruled out new england impacts and the canadian maritimes. there's not a lot of bad weather throughout the southern half of the country, just showers and warm weather. that's a look at your national forecast, now here's a look at the weather outside
